Outline of Project
Cadogans has experience of a number of FGD plants at power stations in Western and Eastern Europe.
Negotiation with Environmental Regulatory Authority.
Cadogans was appointed by lawyers acting for the owners of one of the largest coal-fired power stations in Europe, which had, at that time, the largest FGD plant in the world.
The work involved preparing evidence in support of an application for an increase in the quantity of emissions to the atmosphere, to enable the station to operate at its optimum economic efficiency. The application was successful. The skills deployed were mechanical, process and energy engineering.
Expert Witness in FGD Disputes
Cadogans acted as expert witness in two large international arbitrations relating to FGD retrofitted to coal-fired power stations in Western Europe. The issues in dispute related to guaranteed performance, materials of construction, mechanical defects, corrosion and delays to the contract. The skills deployed were process, energy and mechanical engineering and metallurgy.
Expert Determination
Cadogans acted as expert in expert determination relating to disputes at a large lignite- fired power station in Eastern Europe, which was being upgraded to E.U standards, which included retrofitting FGD.
The skills deployed were mechanical, process, energy and metallurgical engineering.
Alternative Desulphurisation Processes
Cadogans acted as expert witness in a large international arbitration relating to power stations in Eastern Europe, which were being upgraded to E.U. standards. The stations were fired on unconventional fuel and had flue gas desulphurisation but not in the form of traditional FGD plant. The issues in dispute were numerous and the skills deployed were mechanical, process, energy and metallurgical engineering as well as fuel technology.
