Outline of Project

Song Soo Bridge was a major river crossing which had suffered a partial collapse. It was originally intended to carry out repairs only to the collapsed span. However detailed investigation of the remaining bridge structure raised doubts about its long term integrity. Traffic needs were also changing. Consequently a decision was taken to replace the entire superstructure of the bridge crossing together with the approach ramps. In the redesign, the existing foundations were either strengthened or became redundant.

A Senior Consultant from Cadogans was seconded as the Construction Supervisor during the demolition and foundation reconstruction stage of the works. During this phase of the works he was assisted by a local engineering consultant and other personnel.

Key skills used by cadogan consultants

  • Large scale dismantling and demolition works
  • Sheet piling works in a river environment
  • Concrete caissons
  • Large diameter bored piles
  • Large foundations
