Experience

Mr Paterson has over 30 years of extremely broadly based experience as a Structural Engineer working on a wide variety of projects including marine works, water treatment works, offshore oil production platforms, industrial facilities, defence related projects, hospitals, education establishments, offices and residential accommodation. The majority of Mr Paterson’s career has however focused on the design of building structures involving a number of procurement routes including “traditional” contracts, Design and Build and, most recently, Public Private Partnerships and the demolition of tall building by the controlled used of explosives

Other Activities

Mr Paterson is also actively involved in professional activities having previously served as Branch Chairman and Honorary Secretary of the Scottish Branch of the Institution of Structural Engineers and an elected member of the Institution’s Council. Currently Mr Paterson is a member of the Institution’s Registration and Licensing and Construction Legislation Panels, Vice Chairman of the Scottish Registration Board of SER Ltd (the company which administers the Building Warrant Certification scheme in Scotland). Mr Paterson was appointed as a member of the SBSA Building Standards Advisory Committee in 2005.
