Outline Of Project

A building owner gave a contract to a design team to construct extra floors on an existing building. Cadogans was asked to investigate the performance of the mechanical and electrical engineering consulting engineer and whether the standard was what would have been expected from a reasonably competent and diligent practitioner.

Work carried out by Cadogans

The issues, which related to the discharge of flue gases and electrical provisions, were considered and a technical investigation was carried out based of the documents, other expert evidence and the factual evidence provided.

It was concluded that the project had not been well handled by any of the parties involved but the mechanical and electrical consultant had performed reasonably and diligently under the circumstances.

The case settled.
