Power Station Disputes - Eastern Europe

Cadogans became involved in an international arbitration relating to disputes at two oil shale-fired power stations in Eastern Europe.
Turbine issues included problems with alignment which was alleged to result from subsidence. There were also issues relating to prolonged outages of the steam turbine resulting from the steam supply to the turbines.
Boiler disputes related to performance of fluidised bed combustion steam boilers, handling and contamination of fuel and low temperature corrosion of air-pre heaters.
There were also problems from contamination of inlet water due to damage to the screens.
A sizeable team of engineers and scientists had to be employed to meet the tight time scale of the arbitration proceedings. Three senior members of Cadogans staff gave evidence before the arbitral tribunal which was convened in London.
The principal engineering, scientific and strategic disciplines deployed were
