Articulated Compensator
Outline of Project
An articulated compensator in a 1600mm diameter 300ºC air supply line in a metallurgical industry failed in service. The owners/ insurers of the plant raised a civil action against the compensator's manufacturer and its insurers.
A senior member of Cadogans staff was appointed as expert witness for the defendant. The work included consideration of operation and maintenance of the plant, metallurgical examinations and fracture mechanics assessments of the alleged poor welds.
Reports were written and submitted and expert evidence was given at a five week trial in the Official Referees' Court London. The action was successfully defended.
