Shuaiba Oil Pier M & E

The project comprised the rehabilitation of Shuaiba Oil Pier which had been extensively damaged during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. Shuaiba Oil Pier is a T-shaped pier with two inner and two outer berths suitable for very large crude carriers (VLCCs). The berths are 1km offshore.
One arm of the pier was still in use and the rehabilitation work in this area had to be carried out during possessions and with strict control of hot work using a standard permit system. The other arm of the pier was reconstructed with fewer restrictions on working.
Cadogans was responsible for the survey, design, supervision of construction and commissioning of all topside plant and equipment.
The main aspects of the mechanical and electrical services included the following.
? Dismantling works in a hazardous area
? Loading arms for import/export of petrochemical products
? All pipework and valves to feed the loading arms
? Fire fighting installation including pumps, pipelines and monitors
? Electrical power supply including substation and distribution system
? Control and safety systems
? Communications systems
? Building services to new control building
