Mediation of Multi-million Pound Apartment Complex
The dispute arose over the refurbishment of a major building to form luxury apartments. After the properties were occupied there were complaints about the rooms overheating, that the cold water was too warm and that there was insufficient hot water. There was also criticism of the standard of the electrical installation although it met the requirements of the regulations. In addition, there were architectural matters such as leaking roofs.
Eventually some residents were re-housed while the building was further upgraded and repaired by a different construction team.
The developer and financer claimed against the original contract manager, architects, engineers and contractor for the cost of the further works. The matter was settled by mediation.
Cadogans was appointed on behalf of the contract managers and provided expert opinion on the heating system and insulation, the hot and cold water supplies, the electrical installation and various other building services matters. As well as the preparation of reports, our expert took part in the mediation discussions on behalf of our client.
The matter was successfully resolved at the mediation.
