Public Inquiry Waste to Energy

A senior member of Cadogan's staff has given expert evidence at four public inquiries into the construction of incinerators with energy recovery. Two of these were to burn clinical waste, one for municipal waste and one for sewage sludge. They were in various locations in England.

Evidence included assessing demonstrable harm in planning terms compared to the need for the facility in that particular location. Technical issues of the plant functioning, control and safety systems, emissions and potential to pollute were addressed. Of particular importance were provisions for emergencies, faults and failures.

Close liaison was maintained with the Local Authorities opposing the developments and with the solicitors and barristers representing them. The work included preparation of reports and meetings with experts appointed by the developers.
