Outline of Project

Cadogans provided M&E design and site supervision services, as part of the multi-disciplinary design team on the refurbishment of the bank’s main branch and service centre. The building is located in Northumberland Street, Newcastle Upon Tyne, which is part of the city’s central shopping area.

It was necessary to reflect the ambience and décor of a typical high street shop combined with the security and functionality necessary to meet the standards of the bank. The banking hall was fully air-conditioned and decoratively illuminated for customer comfort.

By contrast the service centre consisted of three floors of densely populated office space. Each desk was provided with PC equipment which was networked to the bank’s national computer system. The floors were fully air-conditioned with provision for specialist computing equipment where required. An uninterruptible power supply and standby generator set were located on the top floor of the building to ensure continuity of power in the event of mains failure.
