Experience
Mr. Macdonald has some twenty-eight years experience in the design, contract administration, financial control and site supervision of mechanical building services for a broad range of domestic, commercial, industrial and healthcare premises. He has acted as a team member at a senior level providing detailed technical and financial advice to the principal expert in a number of expert witness appointments in the mechanical building services and plant engineering field over the last eight years.
Individually he has prepared a number of reports offering expert opinion on mechanical building services providing expert opinion on problems associated with, for example, water services, heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
His expertise has encompassed design checking, quantum assessment, site testing, research, measurement analysis and determination of remedial measures.

Company Project Manager responsible for mechanical and electrical condition surveys (including reporting and costing of recommended works) for 25 multi storey tower blocks in Glasgow scheduled for stock transfer to two local housing associations.
Project Manager responsible for investigation into Legionella contamination problems associated with the central hot and cold water services systems in a large multi storey office block. An extension to the appointment included all design and project management of the implementation (with the building in full occupancy) of the recommended remedial works, which resulted in effective resolution of the issues.
Investigations and reporting on the design and installation of the air conditioning system in a large office block. The system was the subject of a dispute relating to under performance. Company Project Manager responsible for community heating system feasibility studies for two multi dwelling sites in South Ayrshire. Studies included individual versus centralised heating plant option appraisals; CHP unit sizing and feasibility appraisals; electrical infrastructure option appraisals; metering and billing option appraisals; utility negotiations. The reports were submitted to the Energy Saving Trust for consideration of grant funding under the Governments Community Energy Programme.

Two of the blocks were large twelve storey tower constructions and in all instances the works were completed in phases with the buildings in full occupancy.
