Experience

Mr Lavingia is a civil engineer with broad technical knowledge and professional experience of working in Fortune-100 as well as start up organizations in the civil-structural and telecom industries. Apart from the professional experience, he has experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses at civil engineering institutes.

Mr Lavingia was awarded Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Award, one of the most prestigious scholarships available to an international student in the UK to pursue his PhD. His work at University of Dundee included investigation of the effect of various industrial by-products on the microstructure of cement pastes and their effect on the permeation and durability properties of concrete. He was also an active organising member of the 7th International Congress on “Concrete: Construction’s sustainable option” and joint editor of congress proceedings volume entitled “Concrete for fire engineering”.

His recent professional experience includes working as senior structural engineer in India with emphasis on analysis and design of structures, supervision of junior staff members and delivery of projects within budgetary constraints. He was also responsible for the structural analysis and design of retrofitting scheme of earthquake damaged building of the State Bank of India and other commercial buildings in India. Mr Lavingia also investigated the collapses of two elevated water storage tanks in the state of Gujarat, India.

As a project support consultant with SchlumbergerSema Telecoms, Mr Lavingia was responsible for providing technical support to one of the largest telecommunication service providers of Latin America during the implementation and production phase of various projects.

As a structural engineer with Landmark Tower Corporation, he analysed and designed self-support and guyed telecommunication transmission towers. He was also responsible for overseeing the design of foundations in a variety of soil conditions for all the towers designed by the company.
